GAGEtrak 6.5/6.6 has been running without any problems on the same workstation for a long time until recently. Now I get an error message that says “Error 2709: An internal error has occurred. Global_PIA_OWC11”. How can I overcome this problem?

Approximately mid-August 2009, Microsoft started releasing some security updates that affect Access 2003 Runtime. Depending on the version of Microsoft Office you are running on your PC, different security updates would have been installed.

The Access 2003 Runtime that powers GAGEtrak 6.56 -> 6.61 Calibration Software is not compatible with these new updates from Microsoft.

If you are running Microsoft Office older than 2003, you may have the Microsoft KB 904018 update for 2003 Access Runtime. Removing KB 904018 solves the problem. You can go to your Windows Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and check the [X] Show Updates checkbox at the top of the list. Then scroll down to the bottom of the list to view updates.

If you are running Microsoft Office 2007, the 2003 Access Runtime update from Microsoft Access may be KB 947319.

If you are unable to remove either of these updates in your Windows Control Panel, you can use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility available for download from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
