How do I set up an additional database for GAGEtrak?
Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the location of your GAGEtrak database. Here you will find another file named GTData65.emp. You can copy and rename this file for your additional databases. You must change the file extension to .mdb. Examples of names for multiple databases might be: GTData65-Fixtures.mdb, GTData65-Tools.mdb, GTData65-Plant1.mdb, GTData65-Plant2.mdb. The disadvantage to having multiple databases is that you lose your common reporting. You would have to generate reports from one database, then open the other database and generate the same reports. Instead of having multiple databases, some of our GAGEtrak users use Current Location to filter their reports. All of the gages from one location would be on one report and all of the gages from the other location would be on a different report – all in the same database. Another way of conveniently producing combined or separate reports would be to add a prefix or suffix to your Gage IDs, such as F- for fixtures, T- for tools, G- for gages, N- for north plant, E- for employee owned, etc.
