Upgrading to GAGEtrak 6.5 from a prior versions

Before downloading and installing GAGEtrak 6.5 there are a few steps that you should know that you will need to take.

After installing version 6.5 you will need to run the Data Transfer Utility. After installing the program and running the DTU (data transfer utility) you will have 30 days to call tech support and get a trigger code to activate your software.

1. To open the data transfer utility you will need to click on start, programs, GAGEtrak6.5, then Data Transfer Utility

2. When you have the Data Transfer Utility open you will be on page 1 of 3 the radio button that will be selected by default is Transfer Data leave it selected and click next

3. You will now be on page 2 of 3. This is where you select your source database and version and source database location. Select the version of GAGEtrak that you are currently using from the drop down menu. Now you will need to select the location of your source database click on the button that is labeled browse and you will be presented with a browse window where you can choose your source database. If you do not know where the source database is at you can find out by opening your old version of GAGEtrak to the main menu and the location of your database will be displayed at the lower right hand side of the form. The default location for the database is C:\Program Files\GTW6\GTData60.mdb. Once this information is filled in click on the Next button.

4. You should now be on page 3 of 3 this is where you select your destination database. Make sure that the drop down box has 6.5 data in it and then click on the browse button. You will then see a browse window where you can select the destination database the default location for your database is C:\Program Files\GTW65\GTData65.mdb however this may not be where your database is located depending on the options you selected during the installation of GAGEtrak 6.5. Once you have located and selected your database click OK and you will back at page 3 click on the Transfer Data button.

5. You will now see a warning letting you know that all data in the destination will be erased. If this is a new installation of GAGETrak and you have no data in the version 6.5 destination database click OK

6. GAGETrak will now transfer your data from the old version to the new version this may take a few minutes depending on the number of records in your existing database you will see a pop up when the DTU is finished

           

7. After you click OK you will see a window displaying record counts look through the records and if all of the records on the right are equal to or greater than the ones on the left you are finished and you can start using GAGEtrak 6.

8. You will need to remember to either do the online update or call tech support and get a trigger code within 30 days. To do the online update you will need to open GAGETrak 6.5 and then click on the icon that says Data Tools you will then see a button labeled Modify License if you click on that button you will see the online update This button will activate your software if your serial number is in our online database.
