Upgrade Instructions

 

Attention:  Upgrading to GAGEtrak 6.5 from an earlier version of GAGEtrak (v6.12 or earlier) requires a data transfer.

Follow the Data Transfer Utility instructions below if you meet these requirements.  Otherwise, if you are a current GAGEtrak 6.5 user and you would like to download the current version update, click the "Download GAGEtrak 6.5" link below to begin.   A data transfer is NOT necessary for current GAGEtrak 6.5 users.  If you are not sure whether you need to run the Data Transfer Utility, please contact Technical Support at (480) 922-7300.

Data Transfer Utility Download Instructions

After installing GAGEtrak Version 6.5, you will need to run the Data Transfer Utility (DTU), which transfers your current records from an earlier version of GAGEtrak to the newest version's table structure.

Note: You will have 30-days to contact Tech Support to obtain a Trigger Code in order to activate your software.

  1. To open the Data Transfer Utility you will need to click on Start | Programs | GAGEtrak 6.5, and then select Data Transfer Utility.

  1. When you have the Data Transfer Utility open you will be on Page 1 of 3. The radio button that will be selected by default is Transfer Data; leave it selected, and then click Next.

  1. You will now be on Page 2 of 3. This is where you'll select your Source Database and Version, (from where data is being transferred). You can select the version of GAGEtrak that you are currently using from the drop down menu. Now, you will need to select the location of your Source Database Location, (the path of where the Source Database can be located). Click on the button that is labeled Browse. You will be presented with an Open Database window where you can choose the file path of your Source Database.

Note: If you do not recall where the Source Database is located, you can find out by opening your old version of GAGEtrak. Select the Main Menu, and the location of your database will be displayed on the lower right hand side of the form. The default location for the database is C:\GTW5\GTData55.mdb or earlier. However, depending on the options you selected during the setup of GAGEtrak, this may not be where your database is located.

Once you have selected your Source Database, click OK. You'll be reverted back to Page 2 of 3. Click on the Next button.

  1. You should now be on Page 3 of 3. This is where you'll select your Destination Database, (from where data is being transferred to). Verify that the Destination Database drop down box has Version 6.5 Data as a selection. After you have selected the Destination Database you will need to specify Destination Connection Information, (the path of where the Destination Database can be located). Click on the button that is labeled Browse. You will be presented with an Open Database window where you can choose the file path of your Destination Database.

Note: The default location for your Destination Database is C:\GTW6\GTData65.mdb. However, depending on the options you selected during the setup of GAGEtrak 6.5, this may not be where your database is located.

Once you have selected your Destination Database, click OK. You'll be reverted back to Page 3 of 3. Click on the Transfer Data button.

  1. After you've selected the Transfer Data button, you will be prompted with a warning message letting you know that all data in the destination file will be erased.

  2. If this is a new installation of GAGEtrak and you have no data in the Version 6.5 database, click OK.

  1. GAGEtrak will now transfer your data from the old database version of GAGEtrak to the new GAGEtrak 6.5 database. The data transfer may take a few minutes depending on the number of records in your existing database. When the DTU is finished, you will be presented with the following message:

  1. Click OK. Next you'll be presented with the Data Transfer Utility Records Count screen.

Verify that the record counts on the right are equal to or greater than the record counts on the left, and then select the Finish button.


You have completed the Data Transfer Utility and can begin using GAGEtrak 6.5.

Modify License

The installation of GAGEtrak 6.5 is preset with a 30-day demo period. So you'll need to remember to either do the Online Update, or call Tech Support at (480) 922-7300 Mountain/Central time within the 30-day time frame to obtain a Trigger Code.

Note: The Online Update button will activate GAGEtrak if your product serial number is logged into the online database.

To remove the demo with the Online Update you will need to open GAGEtrak 6.5. Select the Data Tools icon, and then click on the Modify License button.

Note: If your GAGEtrak product is registered, and the Online Update button is selected the Trigger Code will automatically populate this field, allowing you to continue using GAGEtrak. If your GAGEtrak product is not registered you will need to contact Tech Support for the Trigger Code. You will need to provide them with the Code Entry and the Computer ID numbers as shown on the Modify License form.
